How to Fix GHSA-6x4h-9622-fqr6

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Meraki dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

meraki fixed: 1.40.1
pip install meraki>=1.40.1
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

pip show meraki

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Python environment is affected by GHSA-6x4h-9622-fqr6, inspect your installed packages using pip:

pip show meraki

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Meraki in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 1.40.1), your application is affected.

Note: The pip show meraki command checks currently installed packages in your active Python environment.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under General Security Weakness. In Meraki, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

aiohttp is an asynchronous HTTP client/server framework for asyncio and Python. Improper validation made it possible for an attacker to modify the HTTP request (e.g. to insert a new header) or create a new HTTP request if the attacker controls the HTTP version. The vulnerability only occurs if the attacker can control the HTTP version of the request. This issue has been patched in version 3.9.0. meraki from version 1.40.1 requires aiohttp 3.9.0
