How to Fix CVE-2026-11332

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected ansible-core dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

ansible-core fixed: 2.16.19rc1
pip install ansible-core>=2.16.19rc1
ansible-core fixed: 2.18.18rc1
pip install ansible-core>=2.18.18rc1
ansible-core fixed: 2.19.11rc1
pip install ansible-core>=2.19.11rc1
ansible-core fixed: 2.20.7rc1
pip install ansible-core>=2.20.7rc1
ansible-core fixed: 2.21.1rc1
pip install ansible-core>=2.21.1rc1
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

pip show ansible-core

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Python environment is affected by CVE-2026-11332, inspect your installed packages using pip:

pip show ansible-core

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of ansible-core in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 2.16.19rc1), your application is affected.

Note: The pip show ansible-core command checks currently installed packages in your active Python environment.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-88: Improper Neutralization of Argument Delimiters in a Command ('Argument Injection'), where the product constructs a string for a command to be executed by a separate component in another control sphere, but it does not properly delimit the intended arguments, options, or switches within that command string. In ansible-core, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

A flaw was found in ansible-core. The ansible-galaxy role install command processes dependency specifications from a role's meta/requirements.yml file. Due to improper neutralization of argument delimiters, a malicious role author can inject arbitrary git configuration flags through the src field. This allows arbitrary code execution on the machine of a user who installs the role via ansible-galaxy role install.
