Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=io.spinnaker.clouddriver

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Java application is affected by CVE-2026-25534, inspect your build dependencies using the Maven Dependency Plugin:

mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=io.spinnaker.clouddriver

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Clouddriver artifacts in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 2025.2.4), your application is affected.

Note: The mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=io.spinnaker.clouddriver command inspects the resolved dependency graph declared in your project's POM files; it does not perform automated security scanning or inspect runtime dynamic classpaths. Always verify runtime container classpaths and shaded JARs.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-918: Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF), where the web server receives a url or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this url, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. In Clouddriver artifacts, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

### Impact Spinnaker updated URL Validation logic on user input to provide sanitation on user inputted URLs for clouddriver. However, they missed that Java URL objects do not correctly handle underscores on parsing. This led to a bypass of the previous CVE (CVE-2025-61916) through the use of carefully crafted URLs. Note, Spinnaker found this not just in that CVE, but in the existing URL validations in Orca fromUrl expression handling. This CVE impacts BOTH artifacts as a result. ### Patches This has been merged and will be available in versions 2025.4.1, 2025.3.1, 2025.2.4 and 2026.0.0. ### Workarounds You can disable the various artifacts on this system to work around these limits.
