Advisory Summary

CVE-2026-81927 is a LOW (CVSS 5.4) security vulnerability vulnerability (CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')) affecting Software libraries in the Maven ecosystem. The weakness occurs when the product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users.. Remediation is available in the latest vendor maintenance releases.

User Interaction Required (UI:R)
Scope Changed (S:C)
Confidentiality Low (C:L)
Integrity Low (I:L)
Availability None (A:N)

How to Fix CVE-2026-81927

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Software dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

mvn dependency:tree

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Java application is affected by CVE-2026-81927, inspect your build dependencies using the Maven Dependency Plugin:

mvn dependency:tree

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Software in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than the patched release), your application is affected.

Note: The mvn dependency:tree command inspects the resolved dependency graph declared in your project's POM files; it does not perform automated security scanning or inspect runtime dynamic classpaths. Always verify runtime container classpaths and shaded JARs.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting'), where the product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. In Software, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

Concrete CMS before 9.5.3 contained a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in SVG file handling. When SVG processing was set to the non-default "Reject files containing potentially harmful elements" mode (concrete.file_manager.images.svg_sanitization.action = reject), uploaded SVGs were checked only against a small built-in blocklist covering the script element and on* event-handler attributes; the broader enshrined/svg-sanitize pass still ran, but its result was discarded, so vectors it would have stripped, such as a javascript: URI in an xlink:href, were stored unmodified and executed when the file was opened directly. A user able to upload files could thereby run arbitrary JavaScript in the browser of any user who viewed the file. The default sanitize mode was not affected. The Concrete CMS security team gave this vulnerability a CVSS v4.0 score of 1.8 with vector CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:H/UI:A/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N.
