How to Fix CVE-2026-8147

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected MLflow dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

mlflow fixed: 3.13.0rc0
pip install mlflow>=3.13.0rc0
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

pip show mlflow

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Python environment is affected by CVE-2026-8147, inspect your installed packages using pip:

pip show mlflow

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of MLflow in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 3.13.0rc0), your application is affected.

Note: The pip show mlflow command checks currently installed packages in your active Python environment.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-284: Improper Access Control, where the product does not restrict or incorrectly restricts access to a resource from an unauthorized actor. In MLflow, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

In MLflow versions prior to 3.13.0, when running with authentication enabled, the trace API endpoints lack proper authorization validators. This allows any authenticated user to bypass experiment-level authorization controls on all trace operations, including reading, deleting, and modifying traces on experiments they do not have permission to access. The issue arises from the `_before_request` handler, which does not register authorization validators for trace endpoints, resulting in requests proceeding without validation. This vulnerability can expose sensitive data, destroy audit logs, and allow unauthorized modifications.
