How to Fix CVE-2026-55472

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Snipe/snipe it dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

snipe/snipe-it fixed: 8.6.2
Upgrade snipe/snipe-it to 8.6.2
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for snipe/snipe-it

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by CVE-2026-55472, inspect your project dependencies for Snipe/snipe it:

inspect dependencies for snipe/snipe-it

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Snipe/snipe it in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 8.6.2), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-863: Incorrect Authorization, where the product performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action, but it does not correctly perform the check. In Snipe/snipe it, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

### Impact When Full Multiple Companies Support and scope_locations_fmcs are both enabled, the API endpoint for creating locations can still create a child location under a parent location from a different company. The code detects the invalid parent/child company mismatch, but it appears not to return immediately, so the request continues and the record is still saved. The equivalent Web flow correctly rejects the same relationship. This breaks the expected company-boundary enforcement for location hierarchies under FMCS. It allows cross-company parent/child relationships to be inserted into the location tree, which can affect hierarchy integrity, downstream business logic, and the consistency of company isolation between the Web and API interfaces. ### Patches Patched in https://github.com/grokability/snipe-it/commit/9a8cbd6e00613a726b639a97a1da71b3c54f9489
