How to Fix CVE-2026-53470

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Openshift Migration Advisor dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

github.com/kubev2v/migration-planner fixed: 0.13.5
Upgrade github.com/kubev2v/migration-planner to 0.13.5
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for github.com/kubev2v/migration-planner

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by CVE-2026-53470, inspect your project dependencies for Openshift Migration Advisor:

inspect dependencies for github.com/kubev2v/migration-planner

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Openshift Migration Advisor in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 0.13.5), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-639: Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key, where the system's authorization functionality does not prevent one user from gaining access to another user's data or record by modifying the key value identifying the data. In Openshift Migration Advisor, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

A flaw was found in migration-planner. An authenticated attacker could exploit an improper access control vulnerability in the `/api/v1/sources/{id}/image-url` endpoint. This flaw allows the attacker to bypass an ownership check and obtain presigned S3 URLs for Open Virtual Appliance (OVA) images belonging to other users. Consequently, the attacker can download OVA images containing sensitive information, such as long-lived agent JSON Web Tokens (JWTs) and source configurations, potentially leading to unauthorized access and modification of the victim's source.
