CVE-2026-23467: Software Security Vulnerability Vulnerability
MODERATECVE-2026-23467 is a MODERATE (CVSS 5.5) security vulnerability vulnerability (CWE-476: NULL Pointer Dereference) affecting Software libraries in the Maven ecosystem. The weakness occurs when the product dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid but is null.. Remediation is available in the latest vendor maintenance releases.
CVE-2026-23467 at a Glance
Security Impact
CVSS: 5.5
The security impact metrics below are parsed directly from the CVSS v3.1 vector string (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H).
How to Fix CVE-2026-23467
To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Software dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.
Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:
mvn dependency:tree
How to Check if You Are Affected
To determine whether your Java application is affected by CVE-2026-23467, inspect your build dependencies using the Maven Dependency Plugin:
mvn dependency:tree
Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Software in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than the patched release), your application is affected.
Note: The mvn dependency:tree command inspects the resolved dependency graph declared in your project's POM files; it does not perform automated security scanning or inspect runtime dynamic classpaths. Always verify runtime container classpaths and shaded JARs.
Technical Details
Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis
This vulnerability is classified under CWE-476: NULL Pointer Dereference, where the product dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid but is null. In Software, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. "details" : "In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\ndrm/i915/dmc: Fix an unlikely NULL pointer deference at probe\n\nintel_dmc_update_dc6_allowed_count() oopses when DMC hasn't been\ninitialized, and dmc is thus NULL.\n\nThat would be the case when the call path is\nintel_power_domains_init_hw() -> {skl,bxt,icl}_display_core_init() ->\ngen9_set_dc_state() -> intel_dmc_update_dc6_allowed_count(), as\nintel_power_domains_init_hw() is called *before* intel_dmc_init().\n\nHowever, gen9_set_dc_state() calls intel_dmc_update_dc6_allowed_count()\nconditionally, depending on the current and target DC states. At probe,\nthe target is disabled, but if DC6 is enabled, the function is called,\nand an oops follows. Apparently it's quite unlikely that DC6 is enabled\nat probe, as we haven't seen this failure mode before.\n\nIt is also strange to have DC6 enabled at boot, since that would require\nthe DMC firmware (loaded by BIOS); the BIOS loading the DMC firmware and\nthe driver stopping / reprogramming the firmware is a poorly specified\nsequence and as such unlikely an intentional BIOS behaviour. It's more\nlikely that BIOS is leaving an unintentionally enabled DC6 HW state\nbehind (without actually loading the required DMC firmware for this).\n\nThe tracking of the DC6 allowed counter only works if starting /\nstopping the counter depends on the _SW_ DC6 state vs. the current _HW_\nDC6 state (since stopping the counter requires the DC5 counter captured\nwhen the counter was started). Thus, using the HW DC6 state is incorrect\nand it also leads to the above oops. Fix both issues by using the SW DC6\nstate for the tracking.\n\nThis is v2 of the fix originally sent by Jani, updated based on the\nfirst Link: discussion below.\n\n(cherry picked from commit 2344b93af8eb5da5d496b4e0529d35f0f559eaf0)",
