How to Fix CVE-2022-45383

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Support core dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

org.jenkins-ci.plugins:support-core fixed: 1206.1208.v9b_7a_1d48db_0f
<dependency>
    <groupId>org.jenkins-ci.plugins</groupId>
    <artifactId>support-core</artifactId>
    <version>1206.1208.v9b_7a_1d48db_0f</version>
</dependency>
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=org.jenkins-ci.plugins

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Java application is affected by CVE-2022-45383, inspect your build dependencies using the Maven Dependency Plugin:

mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=org.jenkins-ci.plugins

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Support core in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 1206.1208.v9b_7a_1d48db_0f), your application is affected.

Note: The mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=org.jenkins-ci.plugins command inspects the resolved dependency graph declared in your project's POM files; it does not perform automated security scanning or inspect runtime dynamic classpaths. Always verify runtime container classpaths and shaded JARs.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-863: Incorrect Authorization, where the product performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action, but it does not correctly perform the check. In Support core, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

Support Core Plugin defines the permission Support/DownloadBundle that allows users without Overall/Administer permission to create and download support bundles containing a limited set of diagnostic information. Support Core Plugin 1206.v14049fa_b_d860 and earlier does not correctly perform permission checks in several HTTP endpoints. This allows attackers with Support/DownloadBundle permission to download a previously created support bundle containing information limited to users with Overall/Administer permission. Support Core Plugin 1206.1208.v9b_7a_1d48db_0f deprecates the Support/DownloadBundle permission. The Overall/Administer permission is now required to download support bundles.
