How to Fix CVE-2025-43792

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Com.liferay.portal.kernel dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

com.liferay.portal:com.liferay.portal.kernel fixed: 130.0.1
<dependency>
    <groupId>com.liferay.portal</groupId>
    <artifactId>com.liferay.portal.kernel</artifactId>
    <version>130.0.1</version>
</dependency>
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=com.liferay.portal

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Java application is affected by CVE-2025-43792, inspect your build dependencies using the Maven Dependency Plugin:

mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=com.liferay.portal

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Com.liferay.portal.kernel in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 130.0.1), your application is affected.

Note: The mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=com.liferay.portal command inspects the resolved dependency graph declared in your project's POM files; it does not perform automated security scanning or inspect runtime dynamic classpaths. Always verify runtime container classpaths and shaded JARs.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-15: External Control of System or Configuration Setting, where one or more system settings or configuration elements can be externally controlled by a user. In Com.liferay.portal.kernel, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

Remote staging in Liferay Portal 7.4.0 through 7.4.3.105, and older unsupported versions, and Liferay DXP 2023.Q4.0, 2023.Q3.1 through 2023.Q3.4, 7.4 GA through update 92, 7.3 GA through update 35, and older unsupported versions does not properly obtain the remote address of the live site from the database which, which allows remote authenticated users to exfiltrate data to an attacker controlled server (i.e., a fake “live site”) via the _com_liferay_exportimport_web_portlet_ExportImportPortlet_remoteAddress and _com_liferay_exportimport_web_portlet_ExportImportPortlet_remotePort parameters. To successfully exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must also successfully obtain the staging server’s shared secret and add the attacker controlled server to the staging server’s whitelist.
