How to Fix CVE-2026-30941

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Parse server dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

parse-server fixed: 9.5.2-alpha.1
npm install parse-server@9.5.2-alpha.1
parse-server fixed: 8.6.14
npm install parse-server@8.6.14
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

npm ls parse-server

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Node.js application is affected by CVE-2026-30941, inspect your project dependencies using npm:

npm ls parse-server

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Parse server in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 9.5.2-alpha.1), your application is affected.

Note: The npm ls parse-server command inspects dependencies declared in your package.json and lockfile; it does not perform automated runtime dynamic scanning.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-943: Improper Neutralization of Special Elements in Data Query Logic, where the product generates a query intended to access or manipulate data in a data store such as a database, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that can modify the intended logic of the query. In Parse server, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

### Impact A NoSQL injection vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker to inject MongoDB query operators via the `token` field in the password reset and email verification resend endpoints. The `token` value is passed to database queries without type validation and can be used to extract password reset and email verification tokens. Any Parse Server deployment using MongoDB with email verification or password reset enabled is affected. When `emailVerifyTokenReuseIfValid` is configured, the email verification token can be fully extracted and used to verify a user's email address without inbox access. ### Patches ### Patches The vulnerability is fixed by adding input type validation at the endpoint level. ### Workarounds There is no known workaround. ### References - GitHub security advisory: https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-vgjh-hmwf-c588 - Fix Parse Server 9: https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/9.5.2-alpha.1 - Fix Parse Server 8: https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/8.6.14
