How to Fix CVE-2026-35411

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Directus dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

directus fixed: 11.16.1
npm install directus@11.16.1
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

npm ls directus

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Node.js application is affected by CVE-2026-35411, inspect your project dependencies using npm:

npm ls directus

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Directus in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 11.16.1), your application is affected.

Note: The npm ls directus command inspects dependencies declared in your package.json and lockfile; it does not perform automated runtime dynamic scanning.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-601: URL Redirection to Untrusted Site ('Open Redirect'), where the web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a redirect. In Directus, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

### Summary Directus is vulnerable to an Open Redirect via the redirect query parameter on the `/admin/tfa-setup` page. When an administrator who has not yet configured Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) visits a crafted URL, they are presented with the legitimate Directus 2FA setup page. After completing the setup process, the application redirects the user to the attacker-controlled URL specified in the `redirect` parameter without any validation. This vulnerability could be used in phishing attacks targeting Directus administrators, as the initial interaction occurs on a trusted domain. ### Credits Discovered by Neo by ProjectDiscovery (https://neo.projectdiscovery.io/)
