inspect dependencies for github.com/projectcalico/calico

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by CVE-2020-13597, inspect your project dependencies for Github.com/projectcalico/calico:

inspect dependencies for github.com/projectcalico/calico

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Github.com/projectcalico/calico in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 3.14.1), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-200: Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor, where the product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. In Github.com/projectcalico/calico, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

Clusters using Calico (version 3.14.0 and below), Calico Enterprise (version 2.8.2 and below), may be vulnerable to information disclosure if IPv6 is enabled but unused. A compromised pod with sufficient privilege is able to reconfigure the node’s IPv6 interface due to the node accepting route advertisement by default, allowing the attacker to redirect full or partial network traffic from the node to the compromised pod.
