How to Fix CVE-2026-32594

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Parse server dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

parse-server fixed: 9.6.0-alpha.14
npm install parse-server@9.6.0-alpha.14
parse-server fixed: 8.6.40
npm install parse-server@8.6.40
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

npm ls parse-server

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Node.js application is affected by CVE-2026-32594, inspect your project dependencies using npm:

npm ls parse-server

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Parse server in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 9.6.0-alpha.14), your application is affected.

Note: The npm ls parse-server command inspects dependencies declared in your package.json and lockfile; it does not perform automated runtime dynamic scanning.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-306: Missing Authentication for Critical Function, where the product does not perform any authentication for functionality that requires a provable user identity or consumes a significant amount of resources. In Parse server, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

### Impact Any Parse Server deployment that uses the GraphQL API is affected. The GraphQL WebSocket endpoint for subscriptions does not pass requests through the Express middleware chain that enforces authentication, introspection control, and query complexity limits. An attacker can connect to the WebSocket endpoint and execute GraphQL operations without providing a valid application or API key, access the GraphQL schema via introspection even when public introspection is disabled, and send arbitrarily complex queries that bypass configured complexity limits. ### Patches The unfinished GraphQL WebSocket subscription feature has been removed, including the `createSubscriptions` method and the `subscriptions-transport-ws` dependency. GraphQL subscriptions were never functional in Parse Server as the schema did not define any subscription types. ### Workarounds Block WebSocket upgrade requests to the GraphQL subscriptions path (by default `/subscriptions`) at the network level, for example using a reverse proxy or load balancer rule.
