How to Fix GHSA-mhvh-gwhr-76pw

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Duplicate Advisory dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

n8n fixed: Latest secure release
npm install n8n@Latest secure release
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

npm ls n8n

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Node.js application is affected by GHSA-mhvh-gwhr-76pw, inspect your project dependencies using npm:

npm ls n8n

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Duplicate Advisory in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than the patched release), your application is affected.

Note: The npm ls n8n command inspects dependencies declared in your package.json and lockfile; it does not perform automated runtime dynamic scanning.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-312: Cleartext Storage of Sensitive Information, where the product stores sensitive information in cleartext within a resource that might be accessible to another control sphere. In Duplicate Advisory, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

## Duplicate Advisory This advisory has been withdrawn because it is a duplicate of GHSA-9r8p-h6cc-6qhm. This link is maintained to preserve external references. ## Original Description n8n versions before 1.123.64, 2.29.8, and 2.30.1 contain a credential exposure vulnerability: when configured with a Google Service Account key, the full PEM private key was mistakenly placed in the JWT header's kid field (intended only for a key identifier). Because JWT headers are Base64-encoded rather than encrypted, the private key could be recovered by anything that logged or inspected the JWT. An attacker who obtained the key could impersonate the service account and access or modify any Google Cloud resource it was authorized to use. Only instances using Google Service Account credentials are affected.
