How to Fix CVE-2026-11941

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Cloudflare Quiche dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

quiche fixed: 0.29.2
Upgrade quiche to 0.29.2
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for quiche

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by CVE-2026-11941, inspect your project dependencies for Cloudflare Quiche:

inspect dependencies for quiche

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Cloudflare Quiche in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 0.29.2), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-416: Use After Free, where the product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. at some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer. In Cloudflare Quiche, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

### Impact Cloudflare Quiche was affected by 2 use-after-free vulnerabilities in the connection ID iterator FFI functions. The `quiche_connection_id_iter_next` and `quiche_conn_retired_scid_next` functions would return a pointer to a `ConnectionId` to the applications via function arguments, but the the owned `ConnectionId` would be dropped at the end of those functions' scope. Only applications using those FFI functions are affected. The FFI API is disabled by default by a build-time feature flag. quiche 0.29.2 is the earliest version containing the fix for this issue.
