How to Fix CVE-2026-48505

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Filament dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

filament/filament fixed: 4.11.5
Upgrade filament/filament to 4.11.5
filament/filament fixed: 5.6.5
Upgrade filament/filament to 5.6.5
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for filament/filament

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by CVE-2026-48505, inspect your project dependencies for Filament:

inspect dependencies for filament/filament

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Filament in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 4.11.5), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-841: Improper Enforcement of Behavioral Workflow, where the product supports a session in which more than one behavior must be performed by an actor, but it does not properly ensure that the actor performs the behaviors in the required sequence. In Filament, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

A flaw in the handling of recovery codes for **app-based multi-factor authentication** allows the same recovery code to be reused via concurrent submission. This issue does **not** affect email-based MFA. It also only applies when recovery codes are enabled. If an attacker gains access to both the user's password and their recovery codes, they get two authenticated sessions per recovery code burned instead of one, or more if they batch the parallel submissions wider, materially extending the attacker's window of access compared to what the single-use guarantee implies.
