How to Fix CVE-2026-23524

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Laravel/reverb dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

laravel/reverb fixed: 1.7.0
Upgrade laravel/reverb to 1.7.0
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for laravel/reverb

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by CVE-2026-23524, inspect your project dependencies for Laravel/reverb:

inspect dependencies for laravel/reverb

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Laravel/reverb in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 1.7.0), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-502: Deserialization of Untrusted Data, where the product deserializes untrusted data without sufficiently ensuring that the resulting data will be valid. In Laravel/reverb, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

### Impact This vulnerability affects Laravel Reverb versions prior to v1.7.0 when horizontal scaling is enabled (`REVERB_SCALING_ENABLED=true`). The exploitability of this vulnerability is increased because Redis servers are commonly deployed without authentication. With horizontal scaling enabled, Reverb servers communicate via Redis PubSub. Reverb previously passed data from the Redis channel directly into PHP’s `unserialize()` function without restricting which classes could be instantiated. **Risk:** Remote Code Execution (RCE) ### Patches This vulnerability is fixed in Laravel Reverb v1.7.0. Update your dependency to `laravel/reverb: ^1.7.0` immediately. ### Workarounds If you cannot upgrade to v1.7.0, you should apply the following mitigations: * Redis Security: Require a strong password for Redis access and ensure the service is only accessible via a private network or local loopback. * Disable Scaling: If your environment uses only one Reverb node, set `REVERB_SCALING_ENABLED=false` to bypass the vulnerable logic entirely. ### Credits This vulnerability was discovered and responsibly reported by Mohammad Yaser Abo-Elmaaty @m0h4mmad
