How to Fix CVE-2026-22750

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Spring Framework dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

org.springframework.cloud:spring-cloud-gateway fixed: 4.2.1
<dependency>
    <groupId>org.springframework.cloud</groupId>
    <artifactId>spring-cloud-gateway</artifactId>
    <version>4.2.1</version>
</dependency>
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=org.springframework.cloud

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Java application is affected by CVE-2026-22750, inspect your build dependencies using the Maven Dependency Plugin:

mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=org.springframework.cloud

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Spring Framework in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 4.2.1), your application is affected.

Note: The mvn dependency:tree -Dincludes=org.springframework.cloud command inspects the resolved dependency graph declared in your project's POM files; it does not perform automated security scanning or inspect runtime dynamic classpaths. Always verify runtime container classpaths and shaded JARs.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-15: External Control of System or Configuration Setting, where one or more system settings or configuration elements can be externally controlled by a user. In Spring Framework, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

When configuring SSL bundles in Spring Cloud Gateway by using the configuration property spring.ssl.bundle, the configuration was silently ignored and the default SSL configuration was used instead. Note: The 4.2.x branch is no longer under open source support. If you are using Spring Cloud Gateway 4.2.0 and are not an enterprise customer, you can upgrade to any Spring Cloud Gateway 4.2.x release newer than 4.2.0 available on Maven Centeral https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/springframework/cloud/spring-cloud-gateway/ . Ideally, if you are not an enterprise customer, you should be upgrading to 5.0.2 or 5.1.1, which are the current supported open source releases.
