How to Fix CVE-2026-29194

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Github.com/gravitl/netmaker dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

github.com/gravitl/netmaker fixed: 1.5.0
Upgrade github.com/gravitl/netmaker to 1.5.0
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for github.com/gravitl/netmaker

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by CVE-2026-29194, inspect your project dependencies for Github.com/gravitl/netmaker:

inspect dependencies for github.com/gravitl/netmaker

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Github.com/gravitl/netmaker in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 1.5.0), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-863: Incorrect Authorization, where the product performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action, but it does not correctly perform the check. In Github.com/gravitl/netmaker, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

The Authorise middleware in Netmaker incorrectly validates host JWT tokens. When a route permits host authentication (hostAllowed=true), a valid host token bypasses all subsequent authorisation checks without verifying that the host is authorised to access the specific requested resource. Any entity possessing knowledge of object identifiers (node IDs, host IDs) can craft a request with an arbitrary valid host token to access, modify, or delete resources belonging to other hosts. Affected endpoints include node info retrieval, host deletion, MQTT signal transmission, fallback host updates, and failover operations. > Credits > Artem Danilov (Positive Technologies)
