How to Fix CVE-2025-62411

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Librenms/librenms dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

librenms/librenms fixed: 25.10.0
Upgrade librenms/librenms to 25.10.0
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for librenms/librenms

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by CVE-2025-62411, inspect your project dependencies for Librenms/librenms:

inspect dependencies for librenms/librenms

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Librenms/librenms in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 25.10.0), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting'), where the product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. In Librenms/librenms, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

### Summary LibreNMS <= 25.8.0 contains a **Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS)** vulnerability in the Alert Transports management functionality. When an administrator creates a new Alert Transport, the value of the `Transport name` field is stored and later rendered in the **Transports** column of the **Alert Rules** page without proper input validation or output encoding. This leads to arbitrary JavaScript execution in the admin’s browser. ### Details * **Injection point:** `Transport name` field in `/alert-transports`. * **Execution point:** **Transports** column in `/alert-rules`. * **Scope:** Only administrators can create Alert Transports, and only administrators can view the affected Alert Rules page. Therefore, both exploitation and impact are limited to admin users. ### Steps to reproduce 1. Log in with an administrator account. 2. Navigate to: ``` http://localhost:8000/alert-transports ``` 3. Click **Create alert transport** and provide the following values: * **Transport name:** ```html 'onfocus='alert(1)' autofocus= ``` * **Default Alert:** `ON` * **Email:** `test@gmail.com` (or any valid email) Save the transport. 4. Navigate to ```http://localhost:8000/alert-rules```. A popup `alert(1)` is triggered, confirming that the payload executes. <img width="1829" height="396" alt="image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/932ba17d-214d-4253-80b8-62539d1cfa28" /> ### Impact Only accounts with the admin role who access the **Alert Rules** page (`http://localhost:8000/alert-rules`) are affected.
