How to Fix CVE-2025-31483

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Miniflux.app/v2 dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

miniflux.app/v2 fixed: 2.2.7
Upgrade miniflux.app/v2 to 2.2.7
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for miniflux.app/v2

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by CVE-2025-31483, inspect your project dependencies for Miniflux.app/v2:

inspect dependencies for miniflux.app/v2

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Miniflux.app/v2 in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 2.2.7), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting'), where the product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. In Miniflux.app/v2, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

## Summary Due to a weak Content Security Policy on the `/proxy/*` route, an attacker can bypass the CSP of the media proxy and execute cross-site scripting when opening external images in a new tab/window. ## Impact A malicious feed added to Miniflux can execute arbitrary JavaScript in the user's browser when opening external resources, such as proxified images, in a new tab or window. ## Mitigation The CSP for the media proxy has been changed from `default-src 'self'` to `default-src 'none'; form-action 'none'; sandbox;`. Upgrade to Miniflux >= 2.2.7 ## Credit [RyotaK](https://ryotak.net) (GMO Flatt Security Inc.) with [takumi-san.ai](https://takumi-san.ai)
