How to Fix GHSA-cgvr-f65r-pjv3

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Duplicate Advisory dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

getgrav/grav fixed: Latest secure release
Upgrade getgrav/grav to Latest secure release
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for getgrav/grav

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by GHSA-cgvr-f65r-pjv3, inspect your project dependencies for Duplicate Advisory:

inspect dependencies for getgrav/grav

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Duplicate Advisory in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than the patched release), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting'), where the product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. In Duplicate Advisory, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

### Duplicate Advisory This advisory has been withdrawn because it is a duplicate of GHSA-269c-h76q-8cxw. This link is maintained to preserve external references. ### Original Description Grav versions from 1.5.2 through 2.0.12 contain a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in the Security::detectXss() function (system/src/Grav/Common/Security.php). The event-handler scan is anchored at `<` and uses `[^>]*?`, which cannot cross the first literal `>`; when a `>` appears inside a quoted attribute value the browser keeps the tag open and parses a subsequent event handler (e.g. onerror), so the detector and browser disagree. A page editor without admin.super privileges can save page content such as `<img src=x title=">" onerror=alert(document.domain)>`, which is accepted, stored, and executed in the site origin when any visitor (including unauthenticated users) views the page. Fixed in 2.0.13.
