How to Fix CVE-2026-30965

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Parse server dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

parse-server fixed: 9.5.2-alpha.8
npm install parse-server@9.5.2-alpha.8
parse-server fixed: 8.6.21
npm install parse-server@8.6.21
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

npm ls parse-server

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Node.js application is affected by CVE-2026-30965, inspect your project dependencies using npm:

npm ls parse-server

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Parse server in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 9.5.2-alpha.8), your application is affected.

Note: The npm ls parse-server command inspects dependencies declared in your package.json and lockfile; it does not perform automated runtime dynamic scanning.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-863: Incorrect Authorization, where the product performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action, but it does not correctly perform the check. In Parse server, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

### Impact A vulnerability in Parse Server's query handling allows an authenticated or unauthenticated attacker to exfiltrate session tokens of other users by exploiting the `redirectClassNameForKey` query parameter. Exfiltrated session tokens can be used to take over user accounts. The vulnerability requires the attacker to be able to create or update an object with a new relation field, which depends on the Class-Level Permissions of at least one class. ### Patches The fix applies the same security checks that normally protect class access after the query redirect, ensuring that queries redirected via `redirectClassNameForKey` are subject to the same restrictions as direct queries to the target class. ### Workarounds Set restrictive Class-Level Permissions to prevent clients from creating new fields on classes, specifically by disabling `addField` for public access and unauthenticated users. Note that this limits client functionality and does not fully eliminate the risk if a relation field pointing to a protected class already exists in the schema. ### References - GitHub security advisory: https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-6r2j-cxgf-495f - Fix Parse Server 9: https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/9.5.2-alpha.8 - Fix Parse Server 8: https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/releases/tag/8.6.21
