How to Fix GHSA-6pq8-67pw-j6hw

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Neos/flow dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

neos/flow fixed: 2.3.16
Upgrade neos/flow to 2.3.16
neos/flow fixed: 3.0.10
Upgrade neos/flow to 3.0.10
neos/flow fixed: 3.1.7
Upgrade neos/flow to 3.1.7
neos/flow fixed: 3.2.7
Upgrade neos/flow to 3.2.7
neos/flow fixed: 3.3.5
Upgrade neos/flow to 3.3.5
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for neos/flow

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by GHSA-6pq8-67pw-j6hw, inspect your project dependencies for Neos/flow:

inspect dependencies for neos/flow

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Neos/flow in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 2.3.16), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under General Security Weakness. In Neos/flow, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

The PersistedUsernamePasswordProvider was prone to a information disclosure of account existance based on timing attacks as the hashing of passwords was only done in case an account was found. We changed the core so that the provider always does a password comparison in case credentials were submitted at all.
