How to Fix CVE-2025-30473

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Apache airflow providers common sql dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

apache-airflow-providers-common-sql fixed: 1.24.1
pip install apache-airflow-providers-common-sql>=1.24.1
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

pip show apache-airflow-providers-common-sql

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Python environment is affected by CVE-2025-30473, inspect your installed packages using pip:

pip show apache-airflow-providers-common-sql

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Apache airflow providers common sql in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 1.24.1), your application is affected.

Note: The pip show apache-airflow-providers-common-sql command checks currently installed packages in your active Python environment.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-89: Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection'), where the product constructs all or part of an sql command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended sql command when it is sent to a downstream component. without sufficient removal or quoting of sql syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated sql query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as sql instead of ordinary user data. In Apache airflow providers common sql, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection') vulnerability in Apache Airflow Common SQL Provider. When using the partition clause in SQLTableCheckOperator as parameter (which was a recommended pattern), Authenticated UI User could inject arbitrary SQL command when triggering DAG exposing partition_clause to the user. This allowed the DAG Triggering user to escalate privileges to execute those arbitrary commands which they normally would not have. This issue affects Apache Airflow Common SQL Provider: before 1.24.1. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 1.24.1, which fixes the issue.
