How to Fix CVE-2026-15925

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Snowflake connector python dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

snowflake-connector-python fixed: 3.18.1
pip install snowflake-connector-python>=3.18.1
snowflake-connector-python fixed: 4.7.1
pip install snowflake-connector-python>=4.7.1
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

pip show snowflake-connector-python

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your Python environment is affected by CVE-2026-15925, inspect your installed packages using pip:

pip show snowflake-connector-python

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Snowflake connector python in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 3.18.1), your application is affected.

Note: The pip show snowflake-connector-python command checks currently installed packages in your active Python environment.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-297: Improper Validation of Certificate with Host Mismatch, where the product communicates with a host that provides a certificate, but the product does not properly ensure that the certificate is actually associated with that host. In Snowflake connector python, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

Improper TLS hostname verification in Snowflake Connector for Python versions prior to 4.7.1 and 3.18.1 may have allowed a network-positioned attacker to bypass certificate hostname validation on HTTPS connections made by the connector. An attacker with on-path network access could exploit this by intercepting or redirecting network traffic and presenting a certificate signed by any trusted CA for any domain, causing the connector to accept connections without validating that the certificate matched the requested hostname. Successful exploitation requires an on-path traffic interception capability (e.g. ARP/DNS poisoning, rogue access point, BGP hijacking, or malicious proxy/exit node). This vulnerability may have exposed credentials, query data, and staged file contents to interception and tampering, and may have enabled the attacker to issue arbitrary SQL within the context of the victim's connector session. Impact is limited by the privileges of the affected Snowflake role. The fix is available in Snowflake Connector for Python versions 4.7.1 and 3.18.1. Users must manually upgrade.
