How to Fix CVE-2025-15602

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Snipe/snipe it dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

snipe/snipe-it fixed: 8.3.7
Upgrade snipe/snipe-it to 8.3.7
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for snipe/snipe-it

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by CVE-2025-15602, inspect your project dependencies for Snipe/snipe it:

inspect dependencies for snipe/snipe-it

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Snipe/snipe it in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 8.3.7), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-915: Improperly Controlled Modification of Dynamically-Determined Object Attributes, where the product receives input from an upstream component that specifies multiple attributes, properties, or fields that are to be initialized or updated in an object, but it does not properly control which attributes can be modified. In Snipe/snipe it, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

Snipe-IT versions prior to 8.3.7 contain sensitive user attributes related to account privileges that are insufficiently protected against mass assignment. An authenticated, low-privileged user can craft a malicious API request to modify restricted fields of another user account, including the Super Admin account. By changing the email address of the Super Admin and triggering a password reset, an attacker can fully take over the Super Admin account, resulting in complete administrative control of the Snipe-IT instance.
