How to Fix CVE-2024-47057

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Mautic/core dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

mautic/core fixed: 4.4.16
Upgrade mautic/core to 4.4.16
mautic/core fixed: 5.2.6
Upgrade mautic/core to 5.2.6
mautic/core fixed: 6.0.2
Upgrade mautic/core to 6.0.2
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for mautic/core

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by CVE-2024-47057, inspect your project dependencies for Mautic/core:

inspect dependencies for mautic/core

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Mautic/core in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 4.4.16), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-204: Observable Response Discrepancy, where the product provides different responses to incoming requests in a way that reveals internal state information to an unauthorized actor outside of the intended control sphere. In Mautic/core, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

### Summary This advisory addresses a security vulnerability in Mautic related to the "Forget your password" functionality. This vulnerability could be exploited by unauthenticated users to enumerate valid usernames. User Enumeration via Timing Attack: A user enumeration vulnerability exists in the "Forget your password" functionality. Differences in response times for existing and non-existing users, combined with a lack of request limiting, allow an attacker to determine the existence of usernames through a timing-based attack. ### Mitigation Please update to a version that addresses this timing vulnerability, where password reset responses are normalized to respond at the same time regardless of user existence. ### Workarounds None If you have any questions or comments about this advisory: Email us at security@mautic.org
