How to Fix CVE-2026-55694

To remediate this vulnerability, upgrade all affected Snipe-IT dependencies to a patched release. Both direct and transitive dependencies should be checked, as frameworks or security libraries may pull in vulnerable versions transitively.

snipe/snipe-it fixed: 8.6.3
Upgrade snipe/snipe-it to 8.6.3
Verify Direct and Transitive Dependencies

Run the following command in your project directory to verify that all resolved dependencies use the patched release:

inspect dependencies for snipe/snipe-it

How to Check if You Are Affected

To determine whether your application is affected by CVE-2026-55694, inspect your project dependencies for Snipe-IT:

inspect dependencies for snipe/snipe-it

Analyze the terminal output to locate any version of Snipe-IT in your dependency tree. If any resolved version matches the vulnerable ranges listed in the table below (for example, versions earlier than 8.6.3), your application is affected.

Note: Verify declared build manifests and deployed runtime container environments.

Technical Details

Vulnerability Mechanism & Technical Analysis

This vulnerability is classified under CWE-639: Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key, where the system's authorization functionality does not prevent one user from gaining access to another user's data or record by modifying the key value identifying the data. In Snipe-IT, software state validation or input boundaries are circumvented during processing. Review the official source advisory statement below for specific affected components, classes, and reproduction details.

Source Advisory Statement

### Impact An attacker can completely bypass file-name randomization security and without authorization download confidential, signed EULA files belonging to any other user across the application. ### Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log in as a restricted user. 2. Send a GET request to /api/v1/users/{target_id}/eulas (where target_id belongs to a restricted/denied user). 3. Observe the response leaks the secret EULA filename (e.g., eula-xxx.pdf). 4. Attempt to access this file via the main route: GET /stored-eula-file/{filename} (This will correctly return 403 Forbidden). 5. Now, access the file via the vulnerable profile route: GET /account/stored-eula-file/{filename}. 6. Observe that the server returns a 200 OK and successfully downloads the target user's secret EULA file. ### Patches Fixed in https://github.com/grokability/snipe-it/commit/f15d78621b003be30ac114ba68626683894935ef
